COMPTON - Sheriff's homicide detectives were investigating the fatal shooting of an unidentified man who was found lying down in a Compton street with multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said today.
Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and seeing a bleeding man about 8:30 p.m. in the 900 block of North Hickory, near Rosecrans Boulevard, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. Bruce Chase of Compton Station said.
The victim, a Hispanic man between 30 and 40-years-old, was not identified, Chase said.
It was unknown if the shooting was gang-related, Chase said.
There were no witnesses at the scene and no suspects were identified early today, Chase said.
