[HMG Celebrity News] ? Most breakfast television can dull the senses but Matt Lauer is clearly immune ? On this morning?s Today show he was the first reporter to notice Kate Hudson is engaged.
While discussing her new movie ?Something Borrowed? Matt noticed a giant, square-cut engagement ring on her hand. and Kate was happy to confess;
?I haven?t really announced it, I was waiting for someone to notice,? she explained. ?It happened a week ago,? the 32-year old actress told Matt, recalling the proposal which occurred in New York as ?very sweet and romantic.?
The man in question is ?Muse? singer and long-time boyfriend Matthew Bellamy, who is also the father of her upcoming baby;
?He?s a beautiful man and I?m very excited,? Kate told the host.
The pair met in Australia a few years ago but their connection did not become public until June of last year. But Kate made it clear she and Matt don?t have a wedding date yet.
?I don?t feel it necessary to get married,? she told reporters in January. ?It isn?t the golden ticket, I just want to be happy.?
