Dancing With the Stars Recap: Karina Smirnoff Falls, Romeo & Chelsea Kane Soar to the Top

Monday was "guilty pleasure night" on Dancing With the Stars, an event that kicked off with Hanson rocking out to its famous '90s hit "Mmmbop."

That pretty much set the tone for the night.

Karina Smirnoff, whose Playboy cover could be considered a guilty pleasure in itself, took a spill that sent Ralph Macchio tumbling from the top:

Nevertheless, they rebounded enough to score 24 points, which kept them out of last, and it's hard to see these favorites leading us tonight.

Meanwhile, Chelsea Kane and Romeo proved they're contenders and blew up THG's rankings, each earning a coveted 10 and a pair of 9s to boot.

Romeo tried to live up to his name with Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On," ending a waltz by passionately kissing partner Chelsie Hightower:

That was good enough for a total of 28, but only a tie atop the heap for Romeo.

Chelsea Kane was energetic, perky and fun with a quickstep to Katrina and the Waves' "Walking On Sunshine" in a yellow dress and glasses.

"I'm getting a suntan from you!" Bruno said. "You have so much zest. Splendid."

"Sometimes magic happens twice," Carrie Ann teased before awarding Chelsea a 10 as she did Romeo. Both deserved it, don't you think?

Elsewhere, Kendra Wilkinson finally found her element on the show in a raunchy samba that showed off her ... well, whatever Kendra does.

"The more you shake, the more I palpitate," usually grumpy judge Len grinned, honestly confessing, "THAT was one of MY guilty pleasures."

"Dancing with the Stars presents the revenge of the stripper," Bruno said, climbing on top of the judges' table and making it so awkward.

Here are the night's scores, with Chris Jericho firmly on the bubble:

  • Romeo and Chelsie Hightower (Waltz): 28
  • Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas (Quickstep): 28
  • Hines Ward and Kym Johnson (Viennese Waltz): 27
  • Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy (Samba): 26
  • Kendra Wilkinson and Louis Van Amstel (Samba): 25
  • Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff (Paso Doble): 24
  • Chris Jericho and Cheryl Burke (Tango): 22
