Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are now the proud parents of a baby boy and baby girl.

It's a boy! And a girl!

Mariah Carey gave birth to twins at 12:07 p.m. on Saturday at an undisclosed hospital, her representative Cindi Berger confirmed.

The baby girl was born first, weighing 5 pounds 3 ounces, followed by her brother, who is 5 pounds, 6 ounces.

The twins, who were born on Carey and husband Nick Cannon's fourth anniversary, don't have names yet.

In January, Cannon told People Magazine that the couple planned on helping the kids out later in life - by staying away from wacky baby names.

"They won't be crazy names like Carburetor or something," he said.

It's the first children for both the 41-year-old singer and her 30-year-old husband.

While they may be glamorous celebrities, the birth had its share of unexpected hiccups. Berger told the Associated Press that Cannon went to the wrong department of the hospital and had to be led to the maternity ward by a nurse.

"It was right out of an 'I Love Lucy' skit," she said.

While the duo was coy about Carey's pregnancy until December, they often dropped hints about what kind of parents they would be.

In an interview with People.com in October, Cannon described his wife's motherly instincts.

"She's nurturing with me and makes me breakfast at any time and that's my favorite food. It would be like 3 o'clock in the morning and she will still make me waffles. She'll be the best mom," he said.
